Blyth Town AFC have confirmed details of the pre-season friendlies ahead of the players returning to training this week.
Nicknamed ‘The Braves’, the squad will head south to play Marske United on Saturday July 8 (KO 3pm) before heading closer to home to play Seaton Delaval the following Wednesday evening at 7pm.
The team’s first home games will take place on Saturday July 15 against Newcastle Benfield (KO 3pm) followed by Morpeth Town on Thursday July 20 (KO 7pm).
On July 22, The Braves head up to Scotland to play Civil Service Strollers FC in Edinburgh for a 2pm kick-off before returning to the North East to play away against Percy Main on Wednesday July 26 (KO 7pm).
The squad returned to pre-season training last Friday (June 23) ahead of the FA cup match on Saturday August 5, and the first game of the season on Wednesday August 9 as managers Mick Connor and Andy Bowman prepare the team for the challenge of gaining promotion this season into EBAC Northern League division one.
Connor said: “We narrowly missed out for a chance of promotion last season – our first time in the Northern League. This season, we have several new signings, a more demanding training schedule and an even bigger drive to achieve our dream of promotion into division one.
“We have high expectations for the club and we will be setting targets but we are excited by the challenge. We have a strong management and support team behind us so with the ongoing backing of the sponsors and fans, we aim to gain this promotion by coming in as one of the stronger teams in this division.”
