It has been announced that EC Outsourcing, a call centre based in Boldon, is to create more than 100 jobs in the North East after it secured two major new contracts. The firm, which was founded in 2013, is expected to create 104 jobs in the region in total.

Speaking out about the company’s success, business and operations manager Nathan Cumisky described these jobs as “fresh and exciting job roles, and definitely something different.” The company is looking to hire “fun and energetic individuals who love talking to new people and building new relationships,” said Cumisky, who suggested that the new contracts could allow EC Outsourcing to provide a “steady flow” of employment opportunities in the North East.

What Led to EC Outsourcing’s Success?

EC Outsourcing, which is now based at Boldon Business Park, has reported a stellar run of success over the last 12 months. However, its latest success is specifically attributed to its gaining of two new contracts.

One of these partnerships is with national gas and electricity provider, Economy Energy. As the energy provider has chosen to move its business back to the UK, it will be using EC Outsourcing’s call centre services to provide customer services. The two companies had an existing partnership, with EC Outsourcing generating 500 sales a day for the energy provider and this is seen as a significant expansion of that deal.

The other contract is entirely new and is with bingo game provider Buzz Bingo. Buzz Bingo operates 53 bingo halls across the UK and this figure includes nine halls in the North East. It also operates an online bingo platform which also offers slot and casino games. EC Outsourcing’s work will pertain to the online side of the business, it is understood, as its employees will be handling the bingo site’s chat hosting service.

Why this Growth Could Be Important for the North East

EC Outsourcing is not the only company expanding and growing into the region, nor is it the only company that is freshly providing jobs in the area. Other, recent, high-profile developments include Pagoda PR‘s new Newcastle-based planning and development division, expanding the business’ dealings outside of Edinburgh. Meanwhile, St Helens-based waste disposal firm Qualitech has recently expanded into the North East after securing a six-figure loan.

The moves are seen as hugely important due to the ongoing reports about the North East’s wavering economy. The economy in the region struggles due to “entrenched weakness“, explains the Financial Times, leaving the area lagging behind the South. This comes even as overall UK employment hits a low. These developments and the new jobs could be the investment needed to get the North East’s economy back on track.

Positively, the companies expanding into the region have expressed interest to grow further. As EC Outsourcing itself suggested, there could be plenty of additional opportunities for new jobs, further aiding the North East’s economy and getting more people into work.
