ROALD Dahl fans in Stockton-on-Tees are set to have a phizz-whizzing time at two free library events to celebrate the author.

The gloriumptious celebrations are in store next Wednesday 13 September for national Roald Dahl Day, which is also the renowned author’s birthday.

From 3.30pm to 5.30pm visitors to Stockton Central Library will have the chance to bring the world of Roald Dahl to life with a range of themed craft activities featuring characters from much-loved books including Matilda, James and the Giant Peach, and The BFG.

There will also be a drop-in craft session for children at Billingham Library from 3.30pm to 4.30pm.

Councillor Norma Wilburn, Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for Arts, Leisure and Culture, said: “Roald Dahl continues to captivate readers of all ages and what better way to celebrate his books than these special themed library events.

“The after school drop-in sessions offer lots of fun, creative activities and are also the perfect opportunity for the next generation of readers to fall in love with Roald Dahl’s wonderful books and characters.”

All activities are free of charge. Children under 10 years must be accompanied by an adult.
