Championship Round 8 Previews, Predictions & Tips

Leeds United and Swansea City are sharing the top of the Championship table after seven rounds! The difference between 1st placed and 10th placed teams is only four points, which means we are once again going to witness one hell of a season in world’s most interesting tier two football league. The upcoming weekend is offering a lot of great matches, and we have picked three of them to include some detailed info and our predictions. Can Charlton Athletic keep surprising everyone? Is Huddersfield Town finally going to recover from an awful start? If you consider betting on these matches, check BettingSitesOnline.ca as they have the latest odds and promotions not only for Canadians.

Leeds United v Derby County

Marcelo Bielsa and his squad are justifying the role of big favorites to win the Championship so far. Team from Elland Road has 16 points from seven games, and very dominant 12-3 goal difference. The only game where they underperformed and lost was at this stadium three weeks ago when Swansea City took surprising 1-0 victory back to Wales. Leeds recovered with an easy 2-0 victory against Barnsley last weekend. Judging by the odds, they shouldn’t have a lot of troubles to beat Derby County in front of the home crowd – the current odds on Leeds to win are at 1/3.

It is more than obvious Derby County are not doing so well without Frank Lampard. The difference between this and a team which made it to the playoffs finals last year is huge. The Rams are sitting in not so great 19th position at the moment with seven points on their account. The team is currently winless for six games in a row across all competitions. We don’t think they can score at Elland Road, so consider backing home win to nil’ option. A decent alternative is Patrick Bamford to score at any time.

West Bromwich Albion v Huddersfield Town

The biggest disappointment of the 2019/2020 campaign so far is Huddersfield Town. The Terriers were tipped to earn an express comeback to the elite in this season, but that is hardly going to happen with the way things are going on at the moment. The team is currently occupying 23rd place, having won only one point in seven games! No one could really predict this, mainly because the core of team is almost the same in comparison to the previous season. Can they finally earn the first victory this weekend? Bookies don’t think so. Huddersfield will play on the road against 6th placed team West Bromwich Albion.

WBA definitely have the quality to at least participate in the playoffs. The Baggies had a really tough schedule in the last month, but they managed to remain undefeated! Three draws and two victories is their summary. Draws were fought in some tough match ups, like against Fulham or Derby County on the road. They are very consistent when it comes to scoring, so expecting a home win here makes a lot of sense.

Wigan Athletic v Charlton Athletic

The biggest surprise package of the season Charlton Athletic will try to keep their excellent form up and running at DW Stadium this Saturday. They are surprisingly holding the 3rd place with 14 points, just two shy from the leaders Leeds. This team just got promoted to the Championship after having a great year in League One last season. Can they cause a big upset and fight for the direct promotion to Premier League? Victory against Wigan would surely help.

The Latics barely avoided relegation in the last year, and judging by the performances so far, this one is going to be very similar. They are 21st with five points only, and very poor form in the last month.
