Christmas magic to raise funds for hospice

CHRISTMAS is coming, and with it, lots of fun activities to celebrate the festive season and to help support a local charity.

Butterwick Hospice’s Christmas calendar of children’s events kicks off with not one, but two, fabulous and popular Winter‘s Trails, at Preston Park, on Sunday, December 2, or in Hamsterley Forest on Sunday, December 16.

It is a great family day, with face painting, singing, dancing, and story-telling along the festive route, meeting much-loved Christmas characters, and collecting Christmas treats. Then round it off with a visit to Santa’s Grotto.

Children’s tickets, which include the treats, are £10 and Adults are £4. Children 12 months and under are free but do not receive any gifts, if you would like gifts for them please buy a children’s ticket.

Schools, nurseries and any other children’s groups are being encouraged to take part in the fun and festive Reindeer Run, anytime through December.

The idea is to allocate one day, either during school time or on a weekend, where selected classes can take part in a little run – or walk – around the playground, or grounds of the school, and help to raise money, through sponsorship, for this great local charity.

Butterwick will provide a pack for each child, including a reindeer mask, which they will colour in; a sponsorship form; reindeer food to sprinkle on their lawn on Christmas Eve; and, of course, a huge thank you from everyone at the Hospice.

Just in time for the Christmas holidays is the Children’s Christmas Party, at Billingham Synthonia Club, on Friday, December 21, from 5pm to 8pm. There’ll be a disco with lots of fun, party games, food, and Santa’s grotto. Tickets cost £7 for children and adults.
