Hopping Across The North East From Hub To Hub

Classic cars come to Darlington

Distinct-Darlington-Advent-CalendarTHE glory days of motoring are set to be celebrated next month (September) as vehicles from across the decades head for the North East.

On Saturday 3 September, Darlington will play host to its first ever classic car show, with everything from MGs and Mustangs to military vehicles, bikes and even old-fashioned fire engines.

The free event, organised by BID company Distinct Darlington, will take place at the town centre’s Joseph Pease Place, West Row and Market Square.

And along with the chance to get up close to vehicles from days gone by, visitors will be able to chat to exhibitors and enjoy a variety of automotive-themed entertainment throughout the day.

For art lovers of all ages, there will be the chance to create a car-inspired community art installation by helping a local graffiti artist transform a scrapped car into an artwork.

Darlington business Hole in the Wall Market Tavern and Kitchen will be on hand to provide refreshments and musical entertainment, with their popular Bar-a-Van and Soapbox Sessions making a welcome return after proving a big hit at the Distinctly Delicious Darlington Festival of Food, in May.

“Our first ever Classic Car Show really will be a great day out for all the family,” said Alex Hirst, manager of Distinct Darlington, which was formed to support businesses within the town centre.

“And, at the heart of it all, will be these fantastic vehicles, which have been lovingly restored by their owners and travel all over the UK and Europe – it’s a wonderful opportunity to see them up close.”

Darlington’s Classic Car Show will take place between 10am and 4pm and more information can be found at www.distinctdarlington.co.uk/events.
