A LUXURY addition to a boutique North East hotel is already proving a hit, despite it not opening until April.
Bowburn Hall Hotel at near Durham has unveiled its plans for the Cottage Suite, which is now available for bookings for the night before wedding ceremonies.
The former staff accommodation block is currently undergoing a transformation costing more than £100,000 and when complete will sleep up to eight people.
The cottage includes a large dressing area with make-up and hair stations, state-of-the-art bathrooms with rainfall showers and copper baths, three bedrooms and a stylish living area with a fold out sofa bed.
The cottage will also have a private courtyard with an outdoor sauna, hot tub, barbeque and fire pits.
Bowburn Hall Hotel is already a popular wedding venue and the creation of the Cottage Suite will add to its appeal, with those who have already booked their weddings keen to take advantage of what it has to offer.
“We have been in touch with everyone who is holding their wedding with us from April 2026 onwards to see if they are interested in the cottage and the response has been incredible,” said Tom Pallister, General Manager at Bowburn.
“We’ve had more than 30 bookings already in less than 48 hours because it is going to offer such an amazing pre-wedding experience.”
The hotel is also taking general bookings for the cottage, which will also be on offer for non-wedding guests to book for a private celebration or gathering, subject to availability.
John Adamson, owner of Ramside Estates which includes Bowburn Hall, Ramside Hall Hotel, Golf and Spa and Hardwick Hall Hotel, said the cottage was the perfect addition to the hotel.
“Bowburn is a very special and unique place which is why it has always been a popular wedding spot,” he said.
“The addition of the Cottage Suite will make the night before any wedding even more special and allow the happy couple – or their family and friends – to start making memories before the big day itself.”
Bowburn Hall Hotel only hosts one wedding a day and has a number of different packages available, as well as exclusive use deals which includes the hall’s 20 bedrooms plus its five garden lodges.
The hall’s ballroom can take host around 160 guests for a wedding breakfast and up to 250 evening guests.
Its stunning landscaped gardens – complete with its ornate pergola – are ideal during the summer months for an outdoors ceremony, where again up to 160 guests can be seated.
