Free course to promote diversity in Gateshead

The Gateshead Housing Company is encouraging local residents to attend a fun free course about valuing differences in others. The ‘Understanding differences in people’ course, on Friday, 17 March, will help attendees to understand the importance of equality and diversity in today’s communities.

Involvement and Diversity Officer, Helen Watson, said: “The housing company works to ensure customers and our employees have equal access to services regardless of age, ability, gender, race, belief, gender identity or sexual orientation.

“This course will help people recognise and respect the differences in others, and value the viewpoints of those with different backgrounds from their own.”

The course will run from 10am – 4pm at Gateshead Clubhouse and lunch will be provided.

Help is available to those wanting to attend any training session held by the housing company, including transport and interpreting services. The course is part of an ongoing programme of training called Moving Forward, which helps the company to engage with its customers in an informal environment.

Residents can find out more about the Moving Forward training programme and other ways to get involved at: http://www.gatesheadhousing.co.uk/moving-forward-customer-training-programme-201617/ or by emailing involve@gatesheadhousing.co.uk or calling 0191 433 5357.
