Local housebuilder celebrates National Gardening Week with donation to primary school in Hull

Local housebuilder, Barratt Homes, inspired by National Gardening Week, has donated gardening equipment to local primary school, St Thomas More VC Academy, to encourage and enable the children to make the most of their school’s outdoor space and grow a passion for planting.

To celebrate the week, Sales Adviser Louise, from the nearby Aspect development in Anlaby, Hull, visited the school to gift five colourful gardening kits and seeds to a group of children aged between 5 and 7. The gardening kits, which contained a spade, trowel, rake, watering can and gardening gloves, were gifted to help inspire the children to get involved in gardening on the school grounds.

Barratt Homes donated gardening equipment kits to local primary schools across the region to encourage children to explore and learn about the beauty and benefits of the great outdoors.

Gill Hurst, Sales Manager at Aspect, commented: “At Barratt Homes, we believe in taking care of nature and wildlife in the communities in which we build, and we’re very pleased to be able to donate these gardening kits to local schools to inspire the children to go outside and get gardening this summer. We hope the children enjoy the kits and it brings out the gardeners within them!”

Tina Sellers, Forest School Lead at St Thomas More VC Academy, commented: “The children were thrilled with the lovely gardening equipment and I’m sure the kits will go a long way in helping them develop a love of all things green this year! We’re always keen to encourage the children to play and learn outdoors and we’re grateful to Barratt Homes for such a fun and useful donation, we can’t wait to head outside and get growing.”
