There’s plenty of cracking comedy gigs to choose from at ARC over coming weeks, so check out the below for the full run down.
Teesside’s top magician, comedian and Star of BBC1’s The Magicians, Pete Firman, is heading to ARC this Saturday to deliver his trademark blend of crowd-pleasing comedy and jaw-dropping magic. The Boro born lad returns to ARC after a brilliant sold out gig earlier in the year.
Comedian and human rights activist, Mark Thomas, will be performing his new show The Red Shed on Tuesday 1 November. Known for his political views, his Dispatches programmes for Channel 4, and for being credited for changing the law on tax avoidance, Mark Thomas is on a mission to change the world for the better. ARC’s gig is the only date on the tour that will be BLS interpreted, as well as being a relaxed performance, meaning it is suitable for people with additional access requirements and autism.
Another show with a political edge is Nish Kumar’s Actions Speak Louder Than Words, Unless You Shout the Words Real Loud. Expect a comedy show about history, democracy and capitalism from the comedian who can boast he won a Rose d’Or award for Best Radio Comedy. You can catch it on Saturday 12 November.
Jason Byrne brings his new show Propped Up on Thursday 24 November. In his usual manner, the Irish stand up legend has managed to weave plenty of stunts and lots of silly props into the show, and just a little bit of his famous audience participation will be required!
ARC’s monthly comedy club Catch 22 is back on Friday 25 November and welcomes Danny McLoughlin, Jarred Christmas, John Hastings and Simon Wozniak. A big hit in the US, John Hastings has sold out comedy shows up and down the country and is in high demand on the touring circuit, and Scouser Simon Wozniak will be delivering his no-holds-barred opinions on the modern world.
He absolutely stormed his gig in Stockton two years ago, and now American stand up Rich Hall will be delivering his expertly crafted tirades once again when he comes to ARC. The first date at ARC has already sold out so another date on Tuesday 29 November has been added. The grouchy deadpan genius has been described as a transatlantic messenger lampooning each country he visits. He was also the inspiration behind Matt Groening’s character Moe Szylak from The Simpsons.
