Health Top of The Agenda At Committee Meeting

South Tyneside CouncilResidents across the Borough are being encouraged to attend the next meeting of South Tyneside Council’s People Select Committee (Tuesday 7 June).

A range of issues are on the agenda including a presentation on the role and function of Scrutiny within the Council – highlighting the importance of the Committee in challenging policy and process on behalf of the people of the Borough.

The Committee will also hear a presentation from the Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) which will set out their priorities for the forthcoming year such as tackling long standing health issues in the Borough like Cardiovascular Disease, Respiratory Diseases and Cancer.

Councillor John McCabe, Chair of the People Select Committee at South Tyneside Council said: “We know that health and in particular GP access is at the very top of many people’s agendas. It is important that residents come along and engage with the CCG to have their voices heard.

“I’d encourage the people of the Borough to come along to the meeting to find out more about the CCG’s priorities going forward.”

Members of the press and public are welcome to attend the meeting, which takes place at 10am, on Tuesday 7 June, at Council Chamber, Town Hall, Jarrow.
