ONE of the UK largest housing providers has been shortlisted to take part in an ambitious Government development programme.
Home Group has been selected by the Homes and Communities Agency to be part of its Delivery Partner Panel (3) in four regions throughout England.
The not-for-profit company has been selected to join the DPP in North East Yorkshire & Humber, North West, South and South East, South and South West. The regions have a combined estimated value of £5.4bn work to bid for.
Brian Ham, Home Group Executive Director of Development, said: “We’ve worked hard on our bid and we’re delighted to have been selected to take part of these framework panels.
“Home Group is committed to providing as many homes as possible to tackle the housing crisis. Being selected for DPP reinforces our commitment to become a developer of housing and to build 10,000 homes by 2021.”
It is anticipated that each regional DPP will have around 35 different companies which will then be invited to tender for schemes as they become available. The DPP framework will last for four years.
The DPPs will dispose of Government land allowing developers to help regenerate areas. The HCA has specified that developments must be predominantly housing led although there will be room for mixed use developments which include community facilities, retail or leisure.
Mr Ham added: “As a company with more than 80 years’ experience of providing homes we’re confident that we’ll not only be able to deliver the number of units requested by the HCA but we will do that quickly, to form thriving, well designed communities.
“These communities will offer homes of all tenures to continue providing homes for those who want affordable rent, help getting onto the housing ladder or the chance to buy outright.”
