Impressive turnover and profit growth for Dickinsons Furnishers Group

Northumberland based Dickinsons Furnishers Group, who has five retail furnishing stores across the North East and Cumbria has reported a 22% increase in turnover and impressive 72% rise in profits for year ending 31st March 2016.

In accounts filed at Companies House, all three divisions, Retail, Commercial and Contracting returned positive growth and contributed to the increased turnover from £8.2m to £10m and a pre-tax profit rise of £739k

The Dickinsons Group, who recently acquired New England Interiors in Gosforth as part of a planned programme of expansion already boasts the largest interior design studios in the North of England, based in Hexham, Alnwick and Carlisle.

John Spreadbury, Managing Director, Dickinsons Group, said, “We are absolutely delighted with our results, return on investment and increased sales across our retail stores, contract and commercial divisions.

“We recently opened a new head office, distribution and warehousing facility in Prudhoe where all our non-retail staff are based, which has had huge benefits across the business allowing all processes and procedures to be controlled centrally.

“We have diversified into multiple markets reducing risk and have developed existing relationships and built new ones by winning new contracts which has grown the already successful contracting division and enhanced our commercial division enormously.

“We have also seen a very positive return in retail and we remain confident that the Dickinsons Group will meet this year’s budgeted figures and continue to grow with our upcoming launch in early 2017 of our new e-commerce website (Dickinsons online) which will allow customers 24/7 access to our goods, as well as an exciting launch of a new store later in 2017, Dickinsons Essentials.” he added.

Dickinsons Group consists of five retail stores, three of which are branded Dickinsons Furnishers, all offering product and services for flooring, furniture, soft furnishings, curtains, blinds and interior design with full studios in-house.

The group also own ‘The Discount Warehouse’, which supply entry to mid-level flooring, beds and bedroom furniture and Dickinsons also operate a large established contract flooring division which specialises in the new build sector, supplying and installing various flooring solutions across the North of England.

Launched last year, the group also founded a division called – Dickinsons Commercial, this division specialises in interior design within the B2B sector, focusing on property redevelopment, new build and refurbishment across retail, hospitality, offices, student accommodation, care homes, holiday lets and stately homes.
