Mandale House Care Home celebrates Dignity Action Day

A STOCKTON care home has marked Dignity Action Day with an installation of plaques carrying messages from residents and their families.

The messages ask what dignity means to those at Mandale House Care Home, in Thornaby. They have been hung on the home’s garden tree and fence.

An unveiling ceremony was attended by Deputy Mayor Maurice Perry and Deputy Mayoress Lorrain Perry.

Year 6 pupils from Mandale Mill Primary School also attended the event and refreshments and cakes were donated by Simple Treats in Stockton.

Christine Reason, home manager at Mandale House Care Home, on Acklam Road, said: “Dignity Action Day is an annual opportunity to highlight the necessity to uphold everyone’s right to dignity.

“Dignity is central to everything we do at Mandale House Care Home, so we wanted to provide not only a memorable day for our residents but a lasting testament to our commitment to providing exceptional levels of care for those who reside with us.

“I’d like to thank everyone who attended the event, including the Deputy Mayor and Mayoress, and Mandale Mill Primary School.”

Dignity Action Day is a national event organised by the Dignity in Care Network.

Mandale House Care Home’s activities coordinator, Sarah Robinson, has signed up to the Network as a Dignity Champion, demonstrating the home’s commitment to treating residents with dignity and respect.
