THE Mayor of Stockton-on-Tees, Councillor Maurice Perry, hosts the Borough’s annual duck race in aid of armed forces charities this Sunday (June 25).

This year’s race takes place from 1pm at Preston Park and will see ducks launched into the River Tees from a boat near the jetty.

The first 10 to cross the finish line will win wonderful prizes for their sponsors – and the good news is there’s still time to get sponsoring!

Ducks can be sponsored for £1 at the Rediscover Shop in Stockton High Street and the reception at the Council’s Municipal Buildings on Church Road, Stockton.

Businesses, or individuals, can also sponsor special larger, corporate ducks for £100 each.

The Mayor said: “This is always a really fun event that puts a smile on people’s faces while raising money for a great cause. It only costs £1 to sponsor a duck and people are most welcome to come to Preston Park to join me in watching the race.

“All of the money raised will once again go to the charities set up by the regiments given Freedom of the Borough, namely The Rifles Care for Casualties, The Yorkshire Regiment Benevolent Fund, and One Close Support Regiment REME.”
