Betfair expects to see the fight exceed well over £50m
Katie Baylis, Betfair Spokesperson, said: “It’s now three weeks until one of the most anticipated fights in recent memory and with £11.3m bet on the outcome alone already this is now the biggest boxing betting event in Betfair history.
“We except this fight to trade well over £50m and could even get to the £100m mark, which would be one of our biggest sporting events of all time.
“Floyd Mayweather Jr is the 1/5 favourite, with Conor McGregor at 5/1 and as you would expect most of the money is for Mayweather Jr, however, 40% of bets are on McGregor, compared to 34% on Mayweather Jr and 26% on the draw.
“The biggest single bet was £100k on Mayweather Jr at the start of the month and we are sure to see plenty more bets of this nature as we edge closer to this massive sporting event.”
