North East Connected

Hopping Across The North East From Hub To Hub

MUM’S THE NAME… ACCORDING TO KIDS IN THE NORTH EAST

New research by ODEON Cinemas find that 1 in 9 North Eastern children believe their parents name is ‘Mum’ or ‘Dad’.

The new research, commissioned by ODEON reveals that North Eastern kids are so pre-occupied with gaming and social media that they don’t give time to bonding with their parents.

One in 9 kids in the North East (12%) say they can’t even imagine their own parents being children and 16% don’t know where in the world their parents were born.

Many parents however believe they are still ‘big kids’ with 65% of them revealing they are more excited about family blockbusters such as Toy Story 4 and the impending release of The Lion King than their kids.

ODEON has released a new training programme for its cinema colleagues, specifically designed to help make the cinema-going experience as stress-free for families as possible and to encourage families to bond over film.

Chris Bates, Commercial Director at ODEON UK & Ireland said, “There’s nothing better than debriefing a movie after watching it all together, hopefully this will help kids understand their parents better and enjoy those precious family moments. This summer is the perfect time for families to bond quality films on the big screen at ODEON.”

Other family-first additions include the introduction of new family ticket offers to make a family trip to ODEON cinemas the best value for money and the introduction of O-Zones, kids interactive areas where kids can have fun before and after the film.
