New MD at ramarketing as founder heads to USA

Pharmaceutical and life sciences marketing agency ramarketing has announced the appointment of an industry veteran as its new managing director, to oversee the company’s continued growth.

Emma Banks, former boss of an international life sciences software business, takes over the operational reins from ramarketing’s founder Raman Sehgal, who has transferred to Boston to run the company’s first US office.

Set up in 2009, the Newcastle-headquartered agency specialises in design, digital and PR services for research and development, manufacturing, packaging and technology companies operating in the global biotech and pharmaceutical outsourcing sector.

Founder and global president, Raman Sehgal, said: “Emma is a well-known industry figure with a wealth of senior level experience in growing a technology company into a highly successful international operation, making her an ideal candidate for the role.

“Emma will manage our strategic European growth plans, ensuring we continue to deliver world class service to our clients.  Her warm and energetic leadership style and solid moral compass make her a great fit for our company culture.

“Given her experience, Emma fully understands the value of the US market in helping accelerate our expansion. Bringing her on board to run day-to-day operations enables me to focus on building our North American business.

“I’m excited to oversee the expansion of our already significant US footprint, and to develop a team and a culture in line with the one that’s worked so well for us in the UK.”

Last year saw the agency move headquarters into the former Campus North offices in Newcastle, to allow for expansion. 2018 saw its most successful year to date, on the back of a 40% year on year growth pattern and over 60 percent of its business now coming from the export market.

Six new roles have been created in the last few months, resulting in a 30-strong team working between Newcastle, Manchester and Boston.

Emma, said: “This is an amazing opportunity for me personally, and I am looking forward to the challenges. My role is to continue to deliver exceptional service and nurture the unique culture that makes ramarketing a world-class business.

“My experience of running a highly successful company supporting global clinical development programmes, will help me to support the ramarketing team as we make the transition into an international operation.

“This is a successful, growing business and a very exciting time for the company and its staff. I look forward to playing my part in its continued growth and success.”
