A Newcastle care home has two reasons to celebrate after being given a fresh new look and welcoming an experienced healthcare professional as manager.

Pavilion Court care home, in Cowgate, has undergone a complete refurbishment to benefit its residents, which included the redecoration of lounge areas and bedrooms, as well as new soft furnishings, carpets, curtains and freshly painted walls.

In addition, the home has announced the appointment of Deborah Douglas as home manager.

Deborah, 50, from Gateshead, possesses more than 10 years’ management experience in care homes.

The refurbishment at Pavilion Court is part of Akari Care’s £15 million investment programme in its homes throughout the UK.

Deborah Douglas, home manager at Pavilion Court, said: “The environment of a care home is of the utmost importance to residents, and the fresh, new look the home has received looks fantastic and will further enhance the level of care they receive.

“I am delighted to have been appointed as home manager at Pavilion Court, which is a fantastic opportunity for me. My extensive management experience should put me in good stead and I am now looking forward to working with my colleagues and getting to know the residents.”

Based on McKendrick Villas, Cowgate, Pavilion Court care home provides nursing care for up to 75 elderly residents.

Akari Care operates 38 care homes throughout the UK, including 26 in the North East.
