Hopping Across The North East From Hub To Hub

North East solicitor tells house buyers not to panic over brexit…

richardswinbankA LEGAL conveyancing expert is advising house buyers not to panic after the decision by the UK to leave the EU.

Richard Swinbank, who is in charge of conveyancing at Durham-based EMG Solicitors, said there were already reports of people halting their plans until they feel the markets are more stable.

But he added that North East buyers should not change their minds about moving and continue with house purchases.

Richard, who has worked at a range of top companies across the region, including Bond Dickinson, Gordon Brown, Punch Robson and Close Thornton, joined EMG earlier this year to head up their new conveyancing department.

“Understandably there is a lot of uncertainty generally with how our exit of the European Union will affect people in every area of their lives,” he said.

“But our advice to people thinking of moving is not to panic and make any hasty decisions until they consider all the options.

“The general feeling is that the house markets most likely to be affected are in London or from people abroad wanting to invest in property in the UK, so people in this region shouldn’t worry too much at present.”

EMG was awarded membership of the Law Society’s Conveyancing Quality Scheme earlier this year, giving them the seal of approval that both clients and lenders can “refer to us with confidence.”

“It shows that we follow best practice within the industry, have expert technical knowledge to call upon if required and are able to maintain the highest service levels for clients.” said Richard.

The new conveyancing department is able to work with a range of leading lenders and specialises in all house/land related matters including selling and purchases of leasehold and freehold properties, transfer of equity, new builds, selling and buying plots of land.

“We like to think we are offering a unique service because we’re making ourselves available to our clients not just during office hours but at weekends and out of hours to answer any questions,” said Richard.

“This is particularly important at this time when a lot of people are uncertain about what to do.”

EMG Solicitors was set up in 2014 by Court of Protection expert Emma Gaudern and now offers a range of services including family law, Wills, trusts and probate, Court of Protection work and conveyancing
