New partnership is a recipe for success for new Northern Stage Cafe Bar

  • Former House of Tides and Longsands Fish Kitchen chef brings new Street Kitchen to Northern Stage, alongside local businesses Ouseburn Coffee Co, Pink Lane Bakery and Wylam Brewery

A North East chef is bringing his new Street Kitchen to the newly reopened Northern Stage Cafe Bar next month. Former Longsands Fish Kitchen Head Chef Adam Gladwin will serve up a seafood-inspired Street Food menu to audiences as they return to the Newcastle city centre theatre for Natalie Ibus first show as Artistic Director.

After training at the prestigious Close House, working as a Sous Chef at the Michelin-starred House of Tides and then becoming Head Chef at the award-winning Longsands Fish KitchenAdam Gladwin set up One Dining in 2016, offering customers a more relaxed fine dining experience at home. Now hes launching One Street Kitchen and is planning a fresh new menu for Northern Stage inspired by Natalie Ibus decision to set her production of Jim Cartwright’s Road in the North East coastal town of Blyth.

Adam says, Working with Kenny Atkinson at House of Tides is something I will never forget and it was an honour to be part of a team to hold and retain a Michelin star. My stint at Longsands Fish Kitchen in Tynemouth as Head Chef gave me a love of seafood and sustainability – planning menus based on the fishermans catch was amazing. After the birth of my first daughter In 2016, I set up One Dining and began to offer In Home dining experiences using local ingredients and suppliers. Then COVID-19 hit and we were unable to enter customers’ homes, so we started to offer a takeaway service. The response and support was overwhelming, and this was the birth of One Street Kitchen. Working with Northern Stage is massive opportunity for me and I love the fact that Road is set in Blyth where I went to school; it feels like the perfect partnership and I hope audiences will enjoy our freshly cooked food just as much as they enjoy the show.

Peter Robson, Head of Commercial and Operations at Northern Stage said, “Working with Adam at One Dining is the perfect collaboration for us as we launch our new cafe bar offer and welcome diners and drinkers back to Northern Stage. We’re committed to supporting small local businesses and Adam’s delicious seafood inspired street-food menu brilliantly complements our other local suppliers including Ouseburn Coffee Co, Pink Lane Bakery and Wylam Brewery.  Just grab a table or make a reservation, our friendly team will take your order or you can use our app, and then your meal will be freshly prepared and delivered to your table straight from One Dining’s pop-up kitchen. I can’t wait for people to come and enjoy some proper tasty local food with us.

The Northern Stage Cafe Bar is open from 11am Monday to Friday and from 4pm on Saturday. The One Street Kitchen will be at Northern Stage from 4-30 October, offering dining from 5pm Tuesday to Saturday.  Find out whats on the menu at www.northernstage.co.uk/northern-stage-cafe-bar or to book a table email reservations@northernstage.co.uk or call 0191 242 7200.
