Planned roadworks in the North East – summary for Monday 9 to 15 November

s300_M42_dusk_940x600The following summary of planned new and ongoing road improvements over the coming week is correct as of Friday 6 November but could be subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. All our improvement work is carried out with the aim of causing as little disruption as possible.

A1/A194M Junction 65 to Whitemarepool, Gateshead

From Monday 9 to Thursday 12 November between 8pm and 6am the northbound carriageway will be closed with all traffic travelling in contraflow on the southbound carriageway, for resurfacing work. This project is due for completion 12 November.

A1 Junction 56 Barton to Junction 51 Leeming Bar

There will be phases of overnight lane closures and full carriageway closures while work takes place to upgrade the road to motorway standards. There will also be narrow lanes and a 50mph speed restriction 24 hours a day. In addition to this there will be a southbound carriageway closure overnight from 8pm until 6am, between Scotch Corner and junction 51, and the northbound will be closed between junction 50 and Scotch Corner. This closure will take place from Monday 9 to Friday 13 November. The A1 will be closed in both directions between junction 51 (Leeming Bar) and Scotch corner from 8pm on Saturday 14 November until 6am on Monday 16 November for the demolition of Fort Bridge. The overall project is due to be completed by spring 2017.

A1 Lamesley to Swalwell, Gateshead

Narrow lanes and a 40mph speed limit are in place while work is carried out to upgrade the section of the A1 past Gateshead. There will be a carriageway closure northbound between junctions 67 and 71, and southbound between junctions 73 and 68. This will take place Monday 9 to Friday 13 November between 8pm and 6am, with diversions in place. There are also overnight lane closures between 8pm and 6am. The project is due to be completed by spring 2016.

A1 Morpeth, Northumberland

There will be work ongoing until the end of 2016 for the construction of a bypass. There will be various phases of daytime and night time lane and carriageway closures. On Wednesday 11 November there will be a carriageway closure northbound and on Thursday 12 November there will be a carriageway closure north and southbound. Both these closures will take place between 9pm and 7am, with diversions in place.

A1 Fenwick Stead to West Mains, Northumberland

There will be a carriageway closure north and southbound for resurfacing work. This will take place Monday 9 to Friday 13 November between 9pm and 6am, with diversions in place.

A66 Little Burdon, Darlington, County Durham

There will be work ongoing until January 2016 for resurfacing and electrical work. Overnight the eastbound carriageway will be closed with all traffic travelling in contraflow on the westbound carriageway, taking place between 8pm and 6am. There will also be a daytime lane closure east and westbound between 9.30am and 3.30pm.

A66 Bowes to Cross Lanes, County Durham

There will be a 24 hour contraflow in operation for resurfacing work. The eastbound carriageway will be closed with all traffic travelling on the westbound carriageway. This will take place until Saturday 14 November.

A66 Preston Farm Interchange, Stockton on Tees

There will be a closure of the westbound exit and entry slip road for resurfacing work. This will take place until Friday 13 November between 8pm and 6am, with a diversion in place.

A66 Hutton Bank to Ravensworth, North Yorkshire

There will be convoy working in operation east and westbound for lining work. This will take place until Wednesday 11 November between 8pm and 6am.

A19 Seaton Burn to Moor Farm Roundabout, North Tyneside

There will be a carriageway closure north and southbound for resurfacing work. This will take place 15 November between 8pm and 6am.
