Psyche, the Middlesbrough-based designer store, has launched a new Barbour department with five times more stock than last season.
Founded in South Shields in 1894, Barbour is famous for its waxed jackets, worn by the likes of the Royal Family, but today its offering is much more extensive.
While outerwear is key to Barbour’s iconic identity, it now is a full lifestyle brand with a wide selection of accessories, shirts, knitwear and T-shirts all with a British twist alongside motorcycle inspired clothing from Barbour International.
The design of the new department comprises a juxtaposition of gritty industrial and cosy country house decor to represent Barbour and Barbour International’s mix of country and motorcycle themes.
The styling of the department features quaint wicker baskets and Persian rugs alongside sturdy cast iron fittings and racing memorabilia.
Steve Cochrane, owner of Psyche, said: “This latest development is part of our regular store investment programme.
“We are proud to stock such an iconic brand that is not only British, but has its roots firmly embedded in the North East.
“We have been planning this new department for some time and believe that its distinctive design perfectly complements the Barbour and Barbour International products as an eclectic rendition of the brand in shop fit form.
“Barbour has forged a reputation for its ability to capture the essence of British fashion while also creating high quality, functional clothing. We now stock the biggest selection of Barbour and Barbour International ever seen at Psyche – five times more than last season.”
The Best of Barbour is located on the first floor of the flagship Psyche store in Linthorpe Road and boasts a big selection of Barbour International, Barbour Beacon Brand and Barbour North Sea Outfitters.
