Public’s Views Sought over Town’s Housing Strategy

MIDDLESBROUGH residents are being asked for their views on housing across the town over the next three years.

Members of the public now have until Friday, July 28 to have their say on the draft Middlesbrough Housing Strategy 2017-2020.

The focus in on delivering investment in new and existing homes and neighbourhoods, driving and supporting economic growth.

The Housing Strategy forms a key strand of the Mayor’s 2025 Vision of a town where people want to live, with fair access to high quality homes for all.

Middlesbrough’s housing offer must meet the diverse needs and aspirations of all its communities, and contribute to people living healthier and happier lives.

It is also central to the town’s Investment Strategy and will support the ambition of the Tees Valley Strategic Economic Plan to accelerate the supply of good quality homes across the whole housing market.

The draft strategy has three key objectives:

Comments – to be received by Friday, July 28 – can be submitted by email to  

housingstrategy@middlesbrough.gov.uk or by post to Housing Strategy Consultation, Planning Policy, Planning Services, PO Box 504, Civic Centre (First Floor), ​Middlesbrough TS1 9FY.

Following the consultation, comments received will be taken into consideration in finalising the Housing Strategy, which will be considered for adoption at a future meeting of the Council’s Executive.
