Redcar and Cleveland College student Jack Spivey has found himself a highly sought-after work experience placement with North East firm Press Ahead, which specialises in marketing, digital support, PR, creative and media buying services.
The level 3 media student is currently on a work experience placement at the consultancy which includes working on the creative design aspects of his college’s 2015/16 prospectus, alongside other projects working alongside the Press Ahead creative team.
Jack entered a logo design competition through the college and after being named creator of the winning entry he was contacted by managing director of Press Ahead, Kieron Goldsborough, who invited him to join the team.
Speaking of his time with the consultancy, Jack said: “I’m really enjoying working at Press Ahead and getting to see how the creative team works. Working on the prospectus for college is exciting to be part of and I’m picking up lots of tips, skills and advice that I can use in the future.”
The 19-year-old student plans to move on to study at university after completing his college course, then hopes to work in graphic design after he finishes his studies.
Kieron Goldsborough, managing director of Press Ahead, said: “Alongside this initiative, we have a dedicated programme of student learning. We believe that it is really important to offer students the chance to get workplace experience as it has a positive impact on us as a company as well as on the student.
“Students like Jack bring some great ideas and enthusiasm to the team and in return we can help them develop and learn skills that they can take forward into a career.”
Award-winning Press Ahead recently announced the appointment of a further three members of staff following a period of sustained growth. Clients include Four Housing, Smarterbuys Store, Great Annual Savings, Owen Pugh, Coast and Country, Berghaus and the University of Cumbria.
