OVER 1,500 runners took part in the annual Teesside Hospice Colour Run in Stewart’s Park, Middlesbrough.
The event has raised over £50,000 so far with donations still coming in.
Participants donned in bright running gear passed through six gates over the 5km course, where spectators doused them with coloured powder.
The green gate was sponsored by the Hill Care Group, which operates care homes across the region, where it was all hands to the powder boxes.
The company has already committed to sponsoring the 2018 Teesside Hospice Colour Run.
Michael Allen, home manager at Mandale House Care Home, in Thornaby, was one of those throwing handfuls of green powder at this year’s event.
He said: “The atmosphere was fabulous and the event itself was absolutely great.
“It was inspiring to see so many people of all ages join the run to support Teesside Hospice.
“I was really proud of my colleagues for volunteering to be part of the gate team. It sounds easy throwing power about at a colour run but we all had a proper workout.”
Next year, Michael plans to pull together a team of runners from Hill Care homes across Teesside.
He added: “We definitely want to take part as runners next year. We’re already looking forward to it.”
