January 2020 saw the Saks Academy Darlington open it’s doors to local hairdressers and barbers for day release training of apprentices across the North East. The academy, situated on Duke Street is a modern, fully appointed salon environment supported by the outstanding Saks Educators.
Our renowned academy is open to all local salons, not just Saks salons, and we work with apprentices to bring out the best in them and nurture their skills, in turn providing real value and talent to their home salon.
Saks Apprenticeships train hair and barbering apprentices on day release, at the Academy, or in their salon through the outstanding rated work-based training apprenticeships, with our talented Saks educators tailoring the training to suit your apprentice’s learning style and the business needs.
The academy will run as a live, working salon, meaning that training and assessment will be on real clients – not dolls’ heads! The apprentice would receive the best experience possible, supported by professional educators so you know they’re in safe hands when they’re training at our academy.
Saks is the number one hair and beauty apprenticeship provider for employer satisfaction, and offers the only hair and beauty apprenticeship to be rated as Outstanding by Ofsted. We also take great pride in our 98% success rate for the new End Point Assessment and the fact that the first apprentices to get full marks in the new EPA were Saks apprentices.
