SMALL businesses from Spennymoor and surrounding area have a unique opportunity to hear the secrets to success from a raft of experts.
Durham Business Opportunities Programme – a scheme that helps firms to grow through identifying support, new contracts, suppliers and investment, which is funded by the European Regional Development Fund – is encouraging small businesses to attend its free Meet the Experts event in Spennymoor on Thursday, November 30.
The event will give businesses the opportunity to network and ask questions of experts in the fields of marketing, HR, finance and legal.
Twelve organisations that support growing companies will be present including solicitors Evans and Co, and accountants, Murray & Lamb.
Michael Harriott is Spennymoor’s dedicated business engagement officer and will be on hand to show businesses how and where they can access the help needed to grow.
Michael said: “The Meet the Experts event is a really valuable opportunity for business owners and operators across Spennymoor.
“It’s a chance to find out about the opportunities and support available to small businesses in the area, and to hear from one of their peers – Thorn Lighting – a company which has proven the area is a good place from which to grow.
“This event is a must for any businesspeople that want to take advantage of all the help out there for them.”
Businesses will also have a unique opportunity to hear the secrets to the success of one of their biggest neighbours.
Global company Thorn Lighting will deliver an illuminating key note speech at the free event.
Martin Thompson from Thorn, which has a turnover of more than £145m and employs around 800 people, will share business tips with the audience.
Martin said: “We want to turn the spotlight on growth opportunities for small businesses in Spennymoor.
“The town has been a fantastic base from which Thorn Lighting has grown, and we’re proud to be able to support our neighbours in striving for the same.”
Meet the Experts runs from 4pm-7pm on Thursday, November 30 and is free to attend.
