Classics for Carers, a unique at-home motoring event launches its appeal to classic car and bike enthusiasts across the nation, to join a static stay at home charity motor show.
The fundraiser hopes to provide some light relief in lock-down, with Sunday 3rd May set to invite owners of motoring machinery to stage a national static event at home. Sharing their passion for motion either online or on the driveway, for the enjoyment of local communities while out on their permitted daily exercise (following social distancing requirements of course).
Springtime typically sees the classic motoring calendar in full swing, with enthusiasts, fans and the industry itself coming together to celebrate and socialise at a variety of shows, races and meetings. Often drawing huge numbers to packed out arenas, show grounds and grandstands, to entertain and satisfy the automotive passion of petrol heads.
Owing to the outbreak of the coronavirus disease COVID-19, the subsequent isolation measures have resulted in the vast majority of motoring events and motorsport races being cancelled or postponed. While the government advice to stay home, protect the NHS and save lives is being widely supported, social distancing measures have meant that motoring enthusiasts have swapped time spent at displays and events, for time spent tinkering and polishing at home. The first weekend in May is an opportunity to throw open the garage doors, pull off the covers and join like-minded enthusiasts in supporting the incredible NHS heroes, working selflessly in exceptional circumstances.
Supporting the ‘stay at home’ mantra, Classics for Carers aims to raise money for front-line carers, by appealing to enthusiasts, to purchase an event rally plate or sticker for their vehicles (where all profits go to the NHS charity) or make a donation via the event’s JustGiving page.
