STEWART Park farmers’ market is back this Sunday (April 26) with several new additions to its ranks.
Organic vegetables will now be on sale from Bluebell Organic Veg, based near Richmond, North Yorkshire, as well as vegan and vegetarian food from York-based stall Mind for Cooking.
Elizabeth’s Kitchen, based in Middlesbrough, will also be there with gluten and dairy free baked goods, as well as gourmet pulled pork and hot dog sandwiches from stall Smoklahoma of North Yorkshire.
Regular stall holders will be there selling dexter beef, York honey, County Durham outdoor reared pork, herbs and herb-infused oils from Northallerton and fresh salad leaves grown in Battersby, near Great Ayton.
Market Manager Nigel Davison said: “We’re delighted to introduce more stalls for our customers and give them a bit of variety.
“We hope to continue to grow in the future with the support of the customers in Middlesbrough.”
The market will start at 9am and finish at 2pm in the courtyard of the Bolckow Centre and a craft fair will be held inside.
Additionally Cleveland Clever canine will be holding Dog agility and obedience demonstrations in the courtyard garden, in front of the café, and the Dogs Trust will be there also with potential adoptees.
Pets as Therapy charity will be offering advice and information. The public can join Carrie from Cleveland Clever canine for a guided walk around Stewart Park.
Next month the market will transform into a mini food festival on Sunday May 24 when there will be several more stalls, music from Irish band Brigit’s Mantle, garden tours of the rarely seen garden behind the Bolckow centre, and talks from stall holders on the culinary uses of herbs and how to make a tasty omelette.
The mini food festival will start later at 10am and finish at 4pm.
