A HANDFUL of tickets are still available for a huge charity Diwali celebration taking place in Sunderland this week (October 30).
The Stadium of Light will hold its first ever Diwali night this Sunday which will raise much-needed funds for SAFC’s charity the Foundation of Light.
The inaugural event promises a night of fine food, entertainment and fireworks and is a the result of a collaboration between the football club and Sunderland businessman Umesh Patel MBE DL.
It was Mr Patel who first thought up the idea to mark the five day Festival of Lights which coincides with the Hindu New Year.
“We have had an incredible response since we first announced this special night and with just a day to go we have a few tickets remaining,” he said. “The whole event has been created to raise money for the charity but it will also be a spectacular night of entertainment and I would urge anyone who would like to attend to act now.”
Guests will be entertained by a Bollywood dancer and then get the chance to hit the dancefloor with an Indian Bollywood DJ, while the ladies can enjoy a Henna Corner.
There will be Chaat counter, street food carts and a Grand Diwali buffet featuring everything from curries and rice dishes to salads and poppadums.
A packed dessert bar will offer an array of tasty sweet treats, while guests can enjoy a selection of delicious Diwali drinks.
