A STOCKTON town centre fashion show has been hailed a success after shoppers turned out in their droves to support the event.

The town’s High Street was turned into a giant catwalk for a series of shows, in a two day event organised by Stockton’s Business Improvement District.

And the event – which featured a mix of chain store retailers and local independents – saw shoppers of all ages enjoying the shows.

Major retailers included Debenhams, River Island, M&S, Topshop, Evans and New Look, along with leading cosmetic brand, Boots No 7.

The shows also featured the clothes of local independent stores The Boutique at Poppys, Review Menswear and Stylish.

The fashion shows – which took place last weekend – are the latest in a line of events initiated by Stockton BID as part of their objectives to drive footfall and spending in the town centre.

Karen Hindhaugh, manager at Stockton BID said: “We were delighted by the number of people who came to watch the shows and so were able to see at first hand the quality of shopping we have in Stockton.

“The mix of national brands and homegrown retailers showcased just how much we have to offer.”

Visitors will also be returning to the High Street this weekend (10 June) when sci-fi extravaganza Kapow! returns to the town.
