Sunderland salon reaches grand final of L’Oreal Colour Trophy 2019

A LEADING Sunderland hair salon has made it through to the finals of one of the UK’s most prestigious competitions.

Satchi Salons, based at DW Fitness, Timber Beach Road, beat strong opposition to become the regional champion in this year’s L’Oreal Colour Trophy.

And next month (June) the salon will go head to head with other finalists from across the country, in the hope of taking the grand prize.

The team will head to London on 3 June, having won their way firstly through to the regional finals after submitting a portfolio of images, which was judged by some of the biggest names in British hairdressing including British Hairdresser of the Year, Sally Brooks, Charlotte Mensah and Jamie Stevens, as well as hairdressing icons Errol Douglas MBE and Charles Worthington MBE

After being successful in the first stage, the salon went on to triumph in the regional heats, where the challenge was to create an inspirational and contemporary colour with an on-trend style.

And now they are preparing for the grand final, where the winner will travel to Europe to create their look which will then be featured in a leading national magazine.

“Every hairdresser wants to win the L’Oreal Colour Trophy,” said Scott Atchison, who owns Satchi Salon.

“So it’s a huge honour to be representing the region at the grand final, competing against some of the best salons in the country.

“It’s fantastic that we’ve got this far and now we’ll be going all out to try and win.”
