THE COAST AND A ROAST – TO RAISE MONEY FOR CHARITY

A LEADING North East business is calling on keen walkers to help them raise funds to help young people in the region.

Staff at Newcastle-based Malhotra Group plc are taking part in a Million Makers challenge in support of HRH the Prince of Wales’ charity, The Prince’s Trust.

The challenge is to turn an initial £1500 investment into at least £10k profit for the charity in just six months and they have organised a circular 10-mile coastal walk to help them do just that.

The walk, on Sunday 21 July, will start with a bacon sandwich and a brew at The Sandpiper, Farringdon Road, Cullercoats, where a full Sunday lunch buffet will be awaiting walkers when they return.

And all money raised from the event will go to The Trust, which is the Group’s

nominated charity for 2019 and helps young people to transform their lives for the better, by providing access into jobs, education and training.

The route will head south from Cullercoats down to Tynemouth Priory before snaking back to Cullercoats – at around the halfway mark.

Walkers will then follow the coastal path north towards St Mary’s Lighthouse before making their way back to The Sandpiper.

“We’re really committed to hitting our £10k profit target,” said Malhotra Group’s Marketing Executive, Francesca Jakes, “but we need some help and this is a great way for people to help us raise money and enjoy a great, healthy day out at the same time.

“Anyone can sign up to take part and well-behaved dogs can come along, too. It’s a really lovely route and our chefs at The Sandpiper will make sure everyone is very well fed at the start and finish.”

Tickets are £20 for adults and £15 for children (children under 12 years must be accompanied by an adult). There is a 10 per cent booking fee charge on all tickets.

Profit from all tickets sold will be donated to The Prince’s Trust on behalf of the Malhotra Fundraising Team.

Tickets can be purchased online at www.thesandpiperbar.co.uk/seasidestroll/
