The top four qualifying teams in the Cup North Group were confirmed Friday night, and in the South Group, Worcester Wolves moved into second place.
Leicester Riders were able to pick up their fourth consecutive win as they overcame Radisson Red Glasgow Rocks, 93-58, with Riders essentially sealing the game at half-time with a 20-point lead.
Jamell Anderson led his team to victory, picking up 20 points, and he was assisted by Kyron Cartwright who followed up with a key 17 points and eight assists.
The loss for Glasgow means they can no longer qualify for the BBL Cup Quarter Finals, and also finalises the top four qualifying teams of the BBL Cup North Group. With Leicester and Sheffield already confirmed, Friday’s result means both Cheshire and Newcastle will join them in the Cup Quarter Finals.
Meanwhile down in London, the 2018-19 BBL Cup champions London Lions fell short to the visiting Worcester Wolves, 85-90, in another thrilling clash.
Even with a game high of 31 points from Dii’Jon Allen-Jordan, London couldn’t complete a final Quarter comeback, despite bringing the game to just a one point difference in the closing two minutes of the game.
With under a minute remaining Mark Hughes sinked a three pointer, and then an additional free throw with 30 seconds remaining to stretch the Wolves lead, enough to hold onto victory and see them take second place in the Cup South.
