The 2015 Riverside 5k and South Tees Clinical Commissioning Group 2k Fun Run take place from the Riverside Stadium on Sunday, May 31.

And runners are being given a final reminder that entries must be received by the deadline of Wednesday, May 20.

The group has been training together every Wednesday morning over the past 10 weeks under the watchful eye of Swift-tees coach and founder Rosanne Lightfoot.

The runners – all taking part in aid of Zoe’s Place – have also been supported in their endeavours by Middlesbrough Council’s Community Sport Activation coach Sophie Brown.

Team member Lesley French said: “Some members started walking while others started their training with a slow jog.

“All have improved their fitness levels and are confident they will be completing the run.

“In particular, two members, Jo and Marilyn, who both have artificial joints have improved massively their walking ability and coupled with their continued weight loss they are feeling and looking great.”

Race Director, Scott Hydon said: “I’m delighted that this event attracts so many runners of different abilities and motivations.

“I hope the WeightWatchers have a wonderful time at our event and continue their running into the future.

“For those who have yet to enter, time is running out with entries due to close at midnight on Wednesday, May 20, so I’d urge anyone hoping to take part to get their entry in as quickly as possible.”

  • Application forms are available at venues across the town and entries can be submitted online via runmiddlesbrough.com
