Westray is helping Scott Sports SA’s UK branch to source additional staff to support its 25-strong team based in Cramlington. The firm is strengthening their marketing, customer service, finance and aftersales departments due to the recent acquisitions of Syncros, Outdoor Research and Bergamont Bikes, which will create significant growth.

Scott Sports has a £300m turnover and a global presence in over 80 countries.

To service the new contract, Westray has teamed-up with Access Training to recruit a new employee – apprentice administrator, Aaron Wadey.

Business development manager Ashleigh Wright said: “We are incredibly pleased to win this new contract with the global brand, Scotts Sport. It has come on the back of three years of hard work trying to secure the deal so I’m personally delighted.

“Our commercial division is thriving and expanding, meaning we required additional administrative support. Because we’ve recently recruited experienced consultants, we wanted to do our bit to support the apprenticeship programme, so we turned to Access Training to help us employ an apprentice who we can develop. We have found a stellar employee in Aaron. He has very much exceeded our expectations and is already being mentored to work in a client-facing capacity.

“Because we differentiate ourselves from competitors on quality of service, we have high expectations of our staff and Aaron is a shining example of how an apprentice, despite being young, can be incredibly valuable to a business. He is very mature, highly professional, takes pride in his appearance and learns very quickly.”

The North East region has a highly-competitive recruitment industry, with over 200 companies operating in the field. Westray Recruitment Consultants is the only company in the North East, and one of only 1% of recruitment firms nationally, that is Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC) Audited. The REC Audited status is the recognised gold standard for recruitment businesses, demonstrating their adherence to the highest standards by way of passing regular independent audits.

Access Training’s managing director Malcolm Armstrong said: “It’s great to hear that Aaron is making a strong impact on the business; he is very much enjoying his role and the positive feedback he is getting from his employer.  I am sure he has a very successful career ahead of him. We support hundreds of local businesses like Westray, providing quick and hassle-free recruitment of high-calibre apprentices who are supported by quality training.”
