North East Connected

Hopping Across The North East From Hub To Hub

Angel of Bow Afternoon Tea small

If you are looking for things to do in London’s East End, the newly refurbished Angel of Bow has masses to offer locals and visitors alike. It is so much more than just a pub. The minute you walk through the door, the eclectic furnishings and décor tell you this is no ordinary watering hole.

Drink

Starting with the obvious, if you’re popping in for a pint after work or looking for an afternoon / evening session with friends, you will not be disappointed with the beer. The Angel of Bow has a huge selection of draft, craft beers on offer to excite any beer lover; from ales, lagers and stouts to pilsners and ciders. As an independent pub, the Angel has been able to create links with local breweries, giving them the opportunity to rotate some of the very best craft beers across their impressive 22 taps. These include Neckstamper, Pillars, East London Brewery, Hackney Brewery and Hammerton Brewery. They’ve also cemented their status as one of the best craft beer pubs in East London by creating their own Angel of Bow session lager.

And if beer is not your thing, the choice of wines and spirits has been prepared with the same knowledge and passion as the beers, and offers so much choice you may wonder where to start.

Eat

The menu offers good, wholesome, traditional pub food. There are no chain-prepared frozen ready-made meals here. At The Angel of Bow 98% of the food is made from scratch in their own kitchen. Their seasonal menu changes every week and is filled with produce from the best local East London suppliers. Indeed, all their meat, fish and fruit and vegetables come from within three miles.

With favourites such as prawn cocktail, homemade pâtés, fresh fish and chips, and hand-minced burgers, The Angel of Bow is also the only pub in the locality offering a Sunday carvery, with an enormous choice of meat, trimmings and vegetarian options. Also, for a traditional East End dining experience, the oysters are a must and arrive fresh every Friday. But be warned, when they’re gone, they’re gone!

Stay

The great news is that you don’t have to be local to enjoy this wonderful public house, as The Angel of Bow also offers boutique accommodation providing a luxurious East London haven. Each of the five rooms is unique, showcasing reclaimed furniture upcycled by local artists, feature walls and comfortable wooden sleigh beds. And the location is great too; it is close to Victoria Park, the O2 and ABBA Arenas, not to mention City Airport and the West Ham stadium. A great way to explore the area and then spend your evenings in comfort at the pub. At a very affordable £125 per room, it is also a great value option.

Enjoy!

With all the foundations solidly in place, The Angel of Bow has built an amazing line up of entertainment for all to enjoy this summer.

Twice monthly, on Wednesdays, they are joined by the brilliant Nunhead Folk Circle. On the other two Wednesdays, there is a popular open mic night, full of talent, laughter and live music. Seasoned performers and enthusiastic amateurs alike are welcomed. On Thursdays, there is The Angel of Bow Backgammon Club and for livelier fun once a month on a Friday, visitors can sing their hearts out at the karaoke.

But they have definitely saved the best for the weekends. From 1pm to 3pm on Saturdays customers can join the best Bottomless Drag Brunch in town, bringing scandal and outrage to The Angel of Bow. What better way to start your weekend than unlimited fizz, some of the best brunch dishes in East London and a sensational host to have you laughing until it hurts. Or, for a more sedate Saturday activity, try out the Angel’s delicious afternoon tea. Sunday sees a traditional Sunday quiz night to round off the perfect weekend.

So, whether you are local, you’re coming to the East End for its many attractions or if you just want to experience the delights of The Angel of Bow, make sure you add it to your Summer to-do list.
