ONE OF the UK’s leading LGBT festivals is set to give one lucky winner the trip of a lifetime to San Francisco, thanks to the support of the North’s largest airport.
Newcastle Pride 2017, sponsored by business improvement district NE1, has teamed up with this year’s main stage sponsor, Manchester Airport, to provide the coveted prize to its newest destination, which started in March.
The prize includes flights and accommodation and anyone who buys a raffle ticket before 28 May can be in with the chance of winning.
The winner of the grand prize, which includes two return flights to the popular Californian city and £1000 worth of accommodation vouchers, will be announced at the final spring show at Newcastle cabaret club, Boulevard, Church St.
And that will mean one lucky winner will get the opportunity to see at first hand sites such as The Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz and the famous Lombard Street and the crooked street which has appeared in numerous movies.
Manchester is the only airport outside of London to have a direct service to San Francisco.
Patrick Alexander, Manchester Airport’s Head of Marketing, said: “We are delighted to be working with Newcastle Pride for the first time to support such a worthwhile event.
“Our newest route to San Francisco is a really exciting one and shows our status as a global gateway. What better way to kick off the Newcastle Pride festivities by letting a lucky winner sample this new destination for themselves. We wish everyone who enters the best of luck and look forward to picking the winner.”
Mark Nichols, Chair of Northern Pride, which organises Newcastle Pride, said: “We’re delighted to not only be working with Manchester Airport on this amazing competition but we’re also honoured to have them as a main stage sponsor for what is set to be our biggest, best year yet.
“It’s a fitting way to celebrate our tenth anniversary.”
“All raffle ticket sales will go towards LGBT charity Northern Pride, to help keep the annual festival free.”
The popular festival, which attracted more than 73,000 visitors and contributed more than £10.4m to the economy in 2016, is returning with its largest ever line up on the 21 to 23 July weekend at Newcastle Town Moor.
Raffle tickets are £1 per ticket and will be available to buy at Boulevard, Churchill St, at the Newcastle Pride office at Dance City, Temple St, or online via http://www.northern-pride.com/
The winner will receive two return flights to San Francisco and a £1000 accommodation voucher to be used through Manchester airport online travel agent.
The prize can be redeemed up until the end of August 2018 and full terms and conditions are available on the Pride website.
As well as sponsoring, airport staff will be in attendance over the Pride weekend to join the celebrations and to highlight its 210 global routes, particularly the new direct route to San Francisco.
