Hopping Across The North East From Hub To Hub

York’s Little Festival of Live Music is flying the flag for the York music scene in the Yorkshire Gig Guide Awards

After York’s Little Festival of Live Music’s success in the 2016 Yorkshire Gig Guide Awards, where they won the title of York’s Outstanding New Festival of the Year and narrowly missed out on the regional title, the Festival and the Festival Director Ellen Cole are thrilled that this year they are nominated in FOUR categories in this year’s Yorkshire Gig Guide Awards!

Ellen Cole, Festival Director of York’s Little Festival of Live Music says: “I was shocked that our family-friendly music festival and myself have been nominated in four categories – Yorkshire’s Outstanding New Festival of the Year, Yorkshire’s Outstanding Promoter of the Year, Yorkshire’s Outstanding Individual and the People’s Choice Award. We were so close to claiming the regional Outstanding Festival of the Year title last year, so this year we’re striving to be number one in this category. Our aim as a festival is to generate a wide range of live music events which are family-friendly, accessible for all and more importantly provides our audiences with a great musical experience. When the festival was accidentally created in 2013, I never expected four years later that it would still be running. I am so happy with what we have achieved and that we are helping encourage more audiences to go out and watch live music locally. We would be over the moon if anyone would consider voting for us in the Yorkshire Gig Guide Awards, voting is free and an award win would mean that the work we do will be recognised on a regional level.”

2017 is shaping to be a hugely successful year for York’s Little Festival of Live Music. Earlier on in the year, the festival put on a one-off Girl Power Mini-Fest, which attracted audiences from across Yorkshire and beyond. The main event, which will take place alongside the York Food and Drink Festival on Parliament Street from 22-30 September, attracted 511 applications from acts across the country eager to perform. The Festival team are currently in the process of whittling the acts down from 511 to 28 acts and the line-up for the 2017 event is expected to be announced next week. Ellen goes on to say: “I am overwhelmed with the sheer quantity of talent that applies for our festival year after year. This year, we have some really amazing line-up surprises; I won’t go into details, as the line-up will be announced shortly.”
