In a thrilling display of precision and control, Oscar Piastri secured his third consecutive Formula 1 victory at the 2025 Miami Grand Prix, extending his lead at the top of the Drivers’ Championship and reaffirming McLarenās dominance this season. Teammate Lando Norris followed closely in second, completing a commanding 1-2 finish for the resurgent team.
š„ Piastriās Winning Streak Continues
Starting fourth on the grid, Piastri surged through the field with calculated aggression. His race-defining moment came on lap 14 when he overtook Max Verstappen for the leadāa move that proved unstoppable. From there, the Australian maintained a flawless performance, fending off late pressure and delivering yet another statement victory.
With this result, Piastri now sits 16 points clear of Norris and a significant 32 points ahead of Verstappen in the championship standings.
“Weāre in a fantastic rhythm as a team. The car felt incredible, and the strategy was perfect,” Piastri said after the race. “This win means a lot.”
š„ Verstappen Falters, Red Bull Protests
Pole-sitter Max Verstappen saw his early advantage dissolve after contact with Norris compromised his pace. Despite rallying to finish fourth, Verstappen couldnāt match the McLarens or George Russell, who claimed a hard-fought third for Mercedes.
Red Bull later lodged a protest over Russellās overtake during a late Safety Car period, but the stewards dismissed it, leaving Russellās podium intact.
šļø Ferrari Friction and Midfield Surprises
Ferrari had a tense outing, with Lewis Hamilton voicing frustration over team strategy after being held up behind teammate Charles Leclerc. Both drivers finished in the top tenāLeclerc sixth, Hamilton eighthābut the tension in the garage was palpable.
Meanwhile, Williams’ Alex Albon delivered one of his best races to date, finishing fifth and adding crucial points for the team. Rookie Kimi Antonelli impressed in seventh for Mercedes, continuing to build on a solid debut season.
