£2 million donated to Teesside Hospice

A total of £2 million donated and quality of life improved for thousands of local people… Teesside Hospice are celebrating the outstanding support received from the Edward Guy Foundation.

Since becoming a registered charity in 1995, the Edward Guy Foundation has existed to raise funds and donate these solely to Teesside Hospice.

The contributions from the Edward Guy Foundation have played a key role in the development of the Day Hospice at Teesside Hospice Care Foundation, helping to provide a needs-led service for up to 16 patients each day. In honour of this, the Day Hospice has been aptly named the Edward and Glenis Guy Day Centre.

The Edward and Glenis Day Centre at Teesside Hospice enhances the quality of life for patients suffering from cancer and other life limiting illnesses, providing the opportunity to access services, socialise and improve self-confidence and esteem.

To mark the milestone and celebrate the outstanding support, an Afternoon Tea was held at Teesside Hospice on Tuesday 27th March. Ann Sharp, Chairman of the Edward Guy Foundation presented Maureen Thompson, Chief Executive of Teesside Hospice with a cheque for £425,000 to ensure the Edward Guy Foundation continues to support the day hospice for a further four years – bringing the total contribution to £2 million.
