Family fun with a spellbinding surprise is being offered at a special show in the North East next month.
The Family Magic Extravaganza, on Wednesday March 9, will star six of the North East’s most experienced children’s entertainers, as well as a special international guest at the Customs House, South Shields.
Included in the line-up is award-winning magician and expert balloon modeller, Darren Bonas aka Mr Twister, spellbinding scientist The Nutty Professor and Kendrick, a man of magic, mystery and mirth, who is perhaps best known for his Punch and Judy shows.
They will be joined for the fun-filled evening by Dutch magician Mr Lido, former firefighter, Magic Mick, who has been performing since the age of 10 and compere Tony Junior, who is returning by popular demand for the fifth successive year.
The Family Magic Extravaganza, which is open to all ages, forms part of the wider South Tyneside International Magic Festival, which also offers two International Gala Shows and a convention for magic enthusiasts.
Award-winning magician Graeme Shaw has programmed the Family Magic show in his role as a Director of the festival’s sponsor, MagicBox and will also be performing at the event.
“The South Tyneside International Magic Festival is an amazing event for the North East and the international magic community as whole” he said. “While MagicBox have been proud sponsors for a number of years, I still get excited when March rolls around, especially when it comes to the Family Magic Extravaganza.
“This year, we’ve conjured up a cracking line up of experienced entertainers and seasoned stars, with tricks, jokes and a whole host of audience participation designed to amuse and amaze people of all ages.”
Tickets for the Family Magic Extravaganza, which starts at 6.30pm, are priced at £7 each and available from the Customs House Box Office on 0191 4241234 or www.customshouse.co.uk
Other highlights in the 13th annual South Tyneside International Magic Festival include International Gala Shows at the Customs House on Friday March 11 and Saturday March 12 and a three-day convention exclusively for enthusiasts from March 11 to 13.
Councillor Alan Kerr, Deputy Leader of South Tyneside Council, with responsibility for Culture and Leisure, said: “The Family Magic Extravaganza is designed to make magic more accessible and to offer a fun-filled night out for the entire family. Graeme has done a great job with this year’s line-up and I can’t wait to see him and the other stars perform.”
