Hopping Across The North East From Hub To Hub

Landlord project will ‘Heat the Streets’

CaptureA door-knocking exercise will make sure residents are getting the best deals on their energy bills.

East Durham Homes have organised ‘Heat the Streets’, with officers visiting the Horden area to talk to tenants on the different ways they can run their home more efficiently.

Julie Dower, Tenancy Support Manager said: “We know that some people face unnecessary struggles when it comes to their utility bills because they are paying over the odds to heat their home or even put the lights on.

“It’s easy to fall into a rut but over the next week customers may see our advisers in their neighbourhood, giving them the opportunity have a quick energy health check and also get advice on accessing any benefits they may be entitled to.”

A series of drop-in sessions have also been arranged between Tuesday, 23 and Thursday, 25 February where attendees can also hear more about available furniture packages, in collaboration with County Durham Furniture Help Scheme, and free employment and digital inclusion training with advisers from County Durham Housing Group,

Julie continued: “Tenants can call in any time between 11am and 3pm at 8 McGuinness Avenue in Horden and talk to local organisations about a number of available services they may not have realised were available.”
