Free Breakfast on Offer in Fairtrade Fortnight

Screen Shot 2015-09-22 at 12.44.47FAIRTRADE Fortnight starts on Monday (February 29) – and free breakfasts are up for grabs to get the day off to an energetic start.

The global sources of the first meal of the day are firmly in the spotlight for this year’s Fortnight which runs until Sunday, March 13.

Typical breakfast items could come from as far afield as Kenya (coffee), India (tea), Colombia (bananas), Cote d’Ivoire (cocoa) and Brazil (orange juice).

As Martin Luther King said: “Before you finish eating breakfast in the morning, you’ve depended on more than half the world.”

Anyone cycling into Middlesbrough during Fairtrade Fortnight is invited to park their bike at the Cycle Centre in Middlesbrough Bus Station between 8am and 10am and try some Fairtrade products from all around the world for breakfast.

All are also welcome to attend the Big North East Fairtrade Celebration on Friday, March 4 at The Hub, Students’ Union, Teesside University from 4pm, when the guest speaker will be Luz Marina, a certification manager for Asprocafe Cooperative in Colombia.
