£30,000 remaining for Ryedale’s Community Grants

Local community groups are encouraged to apply to the next round of Ryedale District Council’s Community Grant fund, with a closing date of 5th January 2018.

The Community Grant is open to any Ryedale community based organisation or group, for projects that make a positive impact on the community owned or managed facilities and activities in Ryedale, such as village halls, play areas and sports facilities as well as activities that support the local community.

“In the last round of grants, we were able to support 12 projects.” said Cllr Steve Arnold, Chair of the Grants Working Party which recommends the grants. “The diversity of applications mirrored Ryedale’s wide range of community groups, from equipment for music groups, pre-schools, and sports clubs to support for volunteers in community libraries and for Carers.  “

Barton Le Willows Village Hall has recently completed its refurbishment project.

“We received a community grant towards a brand new extension and kitchen facilities for the hall said Jo Danischewsky, Village Hall Committee Member.

“We worked with local companies and they helped to keep costs down but achieve a really good quality outcome. We would like to thank them and all other funders and fundraisers who have made this possible.  We launched the new kitchen with an “Apple Party” where we were able to ensure hygienic pressing of apples (which would have been difficult before) and serve tea and cakes. It was a joy to have room for several people to work in the kitchen at once and in the evening we went on to enjoy stew and baked potatoes, cooked in the new oven.”
