A request letter is written for various purposes that include a request for a job promotion or an increment or a business deal or a recommendation or asking for a donation or for any other purposes. Though this kind letter is not often written yet there comes a situation in life when it becomes necessary to ask for some favor for any particular things. Under such circumstances, it becomes necessary to write a request letter to the person from whom you will be asking the favor. Request letter gives you the chance to express your inner feelings into words. This kind of letter should be written in such a way that you can drive the attraction of the recipient towards your legitimate demand. No matter whether you are requesting a person for a personal or professional level for a favor when you will a request letter it is important to keep it formal. If you are writing the request letter for any official purpose then you must use that language which is suitable for the workplace. Writing a request letter is never an easy task and you must maintain certain instructions. It is very difficult to find any printable templates with the help of which you can write a request letter. Considering the situation we have come up with a sample and tips to write a request letter for your better understanding.

Many times it is seen that people issue a check but due to some circumstance they need to stop the payment of the check. Under that circumstance, it becomes necessary to write a request letter to the Bank manager to stop the payment. Hence we have come up with a standard sample of request letter to the Bank Manager for stopping the payment of check:

Tips for writing a request letter

The following are some essential thing that you must consider while writing a request letter:

  • Make the format of the letter right: It is necessary to write the request letter in a proper business format. As such it is important to put the name, designation, and address of the receiver at the top left corner of the letter followed by the date of the day on which you will send the letter. You must ensure that you have entered the correct date. If necessary you can download a free calendar and double check the date. After that, you also have to provide your name and address in the letter. Apart from that you also have to use proper salutation such as ‘Dear’ followed by the first and last name of the recipient.
  • Introduction of the letter: In the introduction part you should introduce yourself especially if you are doing an unsolicited request the recipient must know who is making the request. However, you can introduce yourself in just a single sentence or two. It will also help the recipient to identify you and process your request on priority.
  • Body paragraph of the letter: This is where you need to make the request. It is advisable to explain the reason why you are writing the request letter so that the recipient can understand your requirement and can process your request at the earliest.
  • Concluding part of the letter properly: You must conclude the letter with proper concluding terms, for example, you have to use ‘Sincerely’, ‘Best Wishes’, ‘Thanking You’, etc.
