Newcastle Red Bulls can confirm that head coach Alan Dickens will leave the club at the end of the current season.
The former scrum-half has been with Newcastle since the summer of 2024, providing valuable stability during a period of major transition.
Having enjoyed success coaching Northampton Saints and England Under-20s, among others, Dickens will depart in the summer with the sincere thanks and best wishes of Newcastle Red Bulls.
Sporting general manager Neil McIlroy said: “Alan is a very well-respected coach who has made a significant contribution here.
“On behalf of the entire club I want to thank him for the professionalism he has shown throughout our ongoing re-organisation, and for his continued commitment in striving to finish the season strongly.
“We will make further announcements regarding the future make-up of the coaching team in due course, but for the time being we would just like to reiterate our thanks to Alan and continue to support his efforts in improving our on-field performance.”
Dickens said: “I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at Newcastle and remain fully committed for the remainder of my contract.
“It’s no secret there have been some difficult times up here, but the people have been incredible and it has been a hugely fulfilling experience.
“It’s a very exciting time for the club with everything going on under the new ownership, and I mean it when I say I wish them every success for the future.
“The players, staff and supporters have been fantastic throughout the entire time I’ve been up here, and I’ll work tirelessly to leave them with some positive memories by finishing the season strongly.”
