A NORTH Yorkshire woman is proving it’s never too late to achieve the perfect smile, after a huge confidence boost from one of the UK’s leading cosmetic dentists.
Unhappy with some discolouration on her teeth, Joy Forrest, 82, visited Dr Ken Harris at Riveredge Cosmetic Dentistry, Sunderland, on the recommendation of her regular dentist.
To avoid an unnatural-looking result by only fixing the colour of certain teeth, Dr Harris advised four porcelain veneers to achieve a subtle change and a brace to straighten her lower teeth.
And after years of being self-conscious about her smile, Joy is delighted with the outcome, with her only regret being that she didn’t do it sooner.
“I think a lot of older people think that they have left it too late to get work done but you’re never too old and there’s nothing wrong with having confidence in your self-image,” said Joy, from Richmond.
“People have told me that they wouldn’t want to have braces on at their age but it was just six months out of my life and now I couldn’t be happier.
“I was always conscious of my teeth in photos and when I was smiling and now it’s not something I even think about. Dr Harris was fantastic and I couldn’t recommend him enough.”
Dr Harris added that Joy was a perfect example of the fact that a patient is never too old to get a winning smile.
“We get a lot of patients like Joy who are recommended to us by other dentists, whether they are looking for a whole new smile or just some minor improvements,” said Dr Harris.
“There are a number of factors that can contribute to discolouration, no matter how well a person looks after their teeth, and it’s relatively simple to fix if a person decides that is the route for them.”
