Now in its third year, the Malhotra Beer and Cider Festival is heading to The Runhead Bar and Grill, Holburn Lane, Ryton next week (August 11) before moving to another two venues later in the month.
The festivals, which are organised by Newcastle-based leisure company Malhotra Group plc, offer real ale and cider lovers the chance to raise a glass of some of the region’s best craft brews at family-friendly events across the North East.
This year’s festivals are sponsored by Cullercoats Brewery and the Blaydon-based Firebrick Brewery. Their ales and ciders will be on sale alongside those from Malhotra Group’s own Artisan Brew Co.
Following a successful opening event at the Three Mile Inn at Gosforth last month, The Runhead Bar is gearing up for a packed four days of entertainment from Thursday August 11 until Sunday August 14.
The beer tent will be open from 2pm on Thursday and noon on Friday, Saturday and Sunday and entertainment over the weekend includes a disco, barbecues, a magician and live music.
Beers will include Firebrick Trade Star, Anarchy Quiet Riot, Cullercoats Fortified Shuggy Special and Tynebank Strawberries & Cream, while ciders include Somersby Strawberry & Rhubarb and Westons Flat Tyre.
After the Ryton event, the Malhotra Beer and Cider Festival moves to Osborne’s in Osborne Road, Jesmond.
This three-day event will run over the weekend August 19-21 and is set to feature barbecues, DJs and live music.
The festival will head to its final destination, The Sandpiper in Farringdon Road, Cullercoats from August 26-29.
“Following the success of our first festival of 2016 last month, we are looking forward to taking this amazing selection of craft ales, beers and ciders to three more of our top venues,” said Atul Malhotra, director of the Malhotra Group.
“We have lined up plenty of entertainment for visitors of all ages so as to make them attractive to all of the family and we are excited about welcoming customers new and old to our forthcoming events.”
